Descriptions

Short

Heavenward teaches the story of the Bible in five-minute, game-style lessons, from Creation to Revelation, in the Catholic tradition. For iPhone and iPad.

Long

Walk through the whole story of the Bible, five minutes at a time.

Heavenward teaches the Bible the way language apps teach a language: short, playful lessons, a daily streak, quests, and a friendly lantern named Lumen cheering you on. It's written in the Catholic tradition and aligned with the Catechism of the Catholic Church, explained in plain words for anyone who wants to know the story of the Bible, from families learning together to lifelong Catholics.

8 units and 71 lessons trace the story from Creation through the patriarchs, the Exodus, the kings and prophets, exile and return, the Gospels and the early Church to Revelation. Alongside them: the complete 73-book Catholic Bible with highlights, notes and tap-a-name cards; prayers to learn and a guided Rosary; today's Mass readings and the Church calendar; guides to Confession and the Mass; and 251 saints, with a saint of the day.

Streaks rest on Sundays and there's a grace day every week, so real life never breaks them. There are no ads, no hearts and no leagues. Parishes and schools can create classes with a code, with a shared class goal and live quizzes on a projector.

Heavenward is free, with an optional subscription, Heavenward Plus, for unlimited new lessons and extras. The whole Bible, Mass readings, notes, practice, streaks and prayers always stay free.

A few notes for accuracy

  • Heavenward is independent. Please don't describe it as approved or endorsed by the Church, a diocese or a parish.
  • Say "aligned with the Catechism of the Catholic Church" and "written in the Catholic tradition."
  • Lumen is a lantern. It's never meant to show Jesus, Mary, a saint or an angel.
  • Heavenward covers the story of the Bible, not every book of it, and it isn't on Android yet.
