Privacy Policy

Effective October 27, 2026

Heavenward is built to keep what you do private. This policy explains what Heavenward stores, why, and the choices you have. "We" means the Heavenward team: Zephyx Labs LLC, who makes and runs Heavenward (contact details are at the end).

The short version

  • Heavenward is for all ages and works fully without an account. Without one, everything stays on your phone.
  • No ads. No tracking across apps or websites. We never sell or share your personal information.
  • If you create an account, we store only what's needed to back up and sync your progress and notes.
  • You can export your data or delete your account at any time from Settings.

What stays on your phone

Your lesson progress (including the prayers you've learned), streaks, XP, quests, badges, Bible highlights, notes and bookmarks, your reflection journal, and your settings are saved in Heavenward's private storage on your device. Your reflection journal never leaves your phone: it isn't backed up or synced, even with an account. Reminders are scheduled on your device by iOS; we don't send them.

If you create an account (optional)

Accounts are for people 13 and older. When you sign in with Apple, Google or email, we store:

  • your email address and the sign-in method you used (Sign in with Apple may give us a private relay address instead);
  • a display name, if you choose one;
  • a backup of your lesson progress (lessons finished, XP, the days you practiced, review items, quests and badges);
  • your Bible highlights, notes and bookmarks, so they sync between your devices;
  • your class membership, if you join a parish or school class with a code.

We use this only to run your account, back up and sync your data, and provide classes you join. Account data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers in the United States. Supabase processes it on our behalf and may not use it for anything else.

Classes

If you join a class, its teacher can see your display name, how many lessons you've finished, your total XP and the last day you practiced. Your classmates can see, on the class page, your display name (or "A classmate" if you choose to hide it), your XP this week and in total, and the last day you practiced. The teacher can turn the class boards off. Teachers and classmates never see your notes, highlights, journal, answers or anything else. You can leave a class at any time.

Friends

If you have an account, you can add friends by sharing a friend code. Someone becomes your friend only after you both say yes. Friends can see your display name, your current streak and the last day you practiced, and can send you preset cheers (there are no free-text messages). You can remove or block anyone at any time, and blocked people can't find you by your code.

Gifts, sponsorships and invites

If you buy a gift or a sponsorship, we store the purchase's Apple transaction number (to stop it being used twice) and the gift code it creates. When a gift code or an invite code is redeemed, we record who redeemed it so it can't be used again. Payment details stay with Apple.

Purchases

Heavenward Plus and tips are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Apple tells the app whether Plus is active so we can unlock it.

What we don't collect

No location, contacts, photos, microphone, advertising identifiers, or browsing history. No third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code is built into Heavenward.

Crash reports and usage numbers (off unless you switch them on)

If you switch on "Share anonymous crash reports and usage" in Settings › Privacy, the app sends us:

  • crash reports from Apple's MetricKit: technical details about a crash or freeze, the app and iOS version, and the iPhone model;
  • once a day, a few numbers for the day before, if you used Heavenward that day: lessons, prayers and Bible chapters finished, your streak length, whether Plus is on and whether you're signed in, the app version and your language setting.

Each report carries a new random number that's never reused, so nothing ties one report to the next, to your device, to your account, your name or your notes. Like any server, our provider sees the internet address a report comes from; we don't store it with the report. We use these numbers only to keep Heavenward working and to improve it, never to contact anyone, build a profile or show ads. They're stored with Supabase like the rest of our data. You can switch them off again at any time.

Your choices and rights

  • See and export your data: Settings › Your data › Export my data.
  • Delete your account: Settings › Account › Delete account. This permanently erases your account and everything stored with it from our servers.
  • Delete data on this phone: Settings › Your data › Delete all data on this phone.
  • Correct your data: change your display name in Settings › Account.

Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have further rights, such as asking what we hold about you or objecting to how we use it. Contact us and we'll respond within 30 days. We rely on your consent and on our agreement to provide the app (the Terms of Use) to process account data.

How long we keep data

Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete your account. Backups held by our provider are removed within 30 days after that. Crash reports and usage numbers are deleted two years after they're sent. Data on your phone stays until you delete it or remove the app.

Children and families

Heavenward is for all ages, and children are welcome to use it, ideally with a parent or guardian. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13:

  • Everything works without an account, and without one, a child's progress, notes and journal stay on the device.
  • Accounts, classes and friends are for ages 13 and up. Before an account can be made, the app asks the year someone was born (and, for someone who turns 13 this year, the month). It keeps only whether they're 13 or older, never the date. If the answer is under 13, that phone can't make an account until its data is deleted.
  • Crash reports and usage numbers are off unless someone switches them on, and even then they carry no lasting number and can't be traced to a child (see above).
  • There are no ads, no tracking, no chat and no way to share photos or free text with other people.

If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 gave us personal information, for example by making an account, contact us and we'll delete it. The operator responsible is listed under Contact.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections, and our database only lets each person read and change their own records.

Do Not Track

Heavenward doesn't track you across apps or websites, so it works the same whether or not your phone or browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app before the change matters.
